Modern Age Medicine commonly asked questions

How long before I become a Medical Marijuana qualified patient?

Current state law reads that an applicant can become a qualified patient after 21 days of mailing to the state a completed application. We require copies of your paperwork to the state along with evidence of mailing your documents through either a receipt of a certified letter or cancelled check. Until the state can manage the number of applicants we will maintain waiting periods that the state of Michigan imposes. Could take up to 4 months to receive a card or longer.

What does it currently cost to receive/renew your Medical Marijuana ID card with the state?

$100 per year or $25 if you are receiving public assistance, expiring on the same date issued each year. This does not include the fee that the doctor available at the clinic may charge for the consultation and recommendation for medical marijuana. Currently our doctors charge $100 for certification and $75 for recertification.

How much Medical Marijuana Medicine am I legally allowed to possess or grow?

A patient or a primary caregiver who has been issued a Medical Marijuana Registry identification card can possess no more than two and one half ounces (2 1/2 oz's) of a usable form of marijuana (no seeds and stems) and not more than twelve marijuana plants for yourself.

How is my confidentiality protected?

Your confidentiality is protected by law and by the procedures used by the registry. No lists of doctors, patients of caregivers are given out to anyone. Local law enforcement may only contact the registry to verify the information on a specific identification card. Your privacy is important to us.

Do you accept out of state Medical Marijuana cards?

Michigan law has provisions for reciprocity with other states that have medical marijuana laws on their books. We do assist out of state patients with valid documentation and identification.

Will my insurance pay for my medication?

No, unfortunately under Michigan state law, no governmental, private, or any other health insurance provider shall be liable for any claim for reimbursement for the medical use of marijuana.

Where can I legally use my medicine?

No patient shall: Engage in the medical use of marijuana in a way that endangers the health or well-being of any person; or engage in the medical use of marijuana in plain view of, or in a place open to, the general public. Law enforcement has informed the Medical Marijuana Registry of the following: Any place outside of the patient's home is considered public. "In plain view" also includes the patient's yard or garage if that patient can be seen using their medicine by neighbors. Common sense dictates use. Use your medication smart and definitely out of view of children and teenagers. We do not allow for the use of medical marijuana at any of our clinics. If you are found to be using at our client you will be aske to leave and not return again.
